For Filipinos working and living overseas, financing remains the biggest hurdle to buying property back home — so any change to loan limits or rates is worth watching closely. Today's roundup looks at one such update that could directly affect how much house OFWs and other Filipinos abroad can afford.

Pag-IBIG's Bigger Loan Ceiling Opens Doors for Filipinos Abroad

Robinsons Land Corp. president and CEO Mybelle V. Aragon-GoBio pointed to Pag-IBIG Fund's upgraded housing loan program, which now allows qualified borrowers to loan up to P10 million at lower interest rates than before. She noted this matters especially for Filipinos abroad, many of whom depend on Pag-IBIG as their primary way to finance a home purchase in the Philippines. With the higher ceiling, developers may also design residential projects that better match what overseas Filipino households can actually afford, potentially putting higher-quality homes within reach that were previously out of budget. According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the enhanced facility gives homebuyers more flexibility in planning their purchase.
