No major Philippine property news broke today, so here's a look at what's moving in the wider region:

Hong Kong Property Market on Alert Over Possible Fed Rate Hike

Talk of a US Federal Reserve rate increase has intensified after Fed chairman Kevin Warsh's remarks at the Jackson Hole symposium, with market-implied odds of a hike this month reportedly doubling to around 60 per cent. Because Hong Kong's monetary policy is closely tied to US rates, any Fed move tends to ripple through its property sector. That said, Knight Frank believes local banks are unlikely to raise their prime lending rate significantly, expecting it to stay flat or inch up by no more than an eighth of a percentage point. According to the South China Morning Post, the overall impact on Hong Kong's housing market may end up being limited.

CapitaLand-UOL Consortium Wins Record Singapore Land Bid

A joint venture between CapitaLand Development, UOL Group and Singapore Land Group has emerged as the top bidder for a residential Government Land Sale site along New Upper Changi Road, offering $1.43 billion when the tender closed on September 1. The winning bid outpaced the next-highest offer, from City Developments and Hong Realty, by nearly 14 per cent, and marks the largest sum ever paid for a purely residential GLS plot in Singapore, edging past the Dunman Road site's 2022 record. The 331,198 sq ft, 99-year leasehold parcel is expected to yield roughly 1,010 homes. According to EdgeProp Singapore, the strong bid reflects continued developer confidence in Singapore's residential land market.
