For Filipinos abroad who send money home to help family buy or finance property, Pag-IBIG Fund's latest numbers show a notable expansion in affordable housing loans this year. Here is a quick look at two related reports on the surge in socialized housing financing and what it means for continued access to low-rate loans.
Pag-IBIG socialized housing financing jumps 173%
Pag-IBIG Fund's socialized housing financing rose 173 percent in 2026, reaching 10,904 units under the Marcos administration's Expanded 4PH Program. The total amount released for this segment grew to P12.10 billion from P4.45 billion the previous year, lifting its share of Pag-IBIG's overall housing financing from 7 percent to nearly 16 percent. Separately, from January to September 2026, the agency reported a 15 percent rise in homes financed and a 20 percent increase in housing loan releases overall. For OFWs supporting relatives' home purchases, this points to a growing pool of subsidized financing becoming available. According to the Philippine News Agency, via Tribune, the increase reflects expanded government support for low-income housing this year.
Over P12-B released so far this year to finance housing for low income earners
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling noted that socialized housing units financed through Pag-IBIG Fund have already climbed to 10,904 this year from 3,987 in 2025 — with two months still remaining before year-end. Qualified member-homebuyers under the socialized housing program can access a subsidized loan rate of 3 percent, while Pag-IBIG also offers promotional rates of 4.5 percent for loans up to P4.9 million and 5.75 percent for loans between P4.9 million and P10 million. For OFW families relying on Pag-IBIG to finance a home purchase back home, these rates remain in effect through the rest of 2026. According to Manila Bulletin, the figures underscore continued momentum in the government's socialized housing push this year.
