Today's roundup looks at scrutiny over reported condo cancellations and a fresh initiative aimed at connecting different corners of the building industry.

Condo backouts spark call for transparency

ABREP president Anthony Leuterio is pushing for more transparency around a reported 9,000 condominium unit cancellations, saying the figures may not fully capture how widespread financing troubles are among buyers. Of those backouts, 5,200 units were still under construction while 3,800 were ready for occupancy. Colliers data cited in the report shows Pasig posted the highest number of cancellations among the areas tracked. According to Sun.Star Cebu, the group wants clearer reporting to better understand the true scale of the issue.

PhilBIG launches networking event for builders

PhilBIG has launched “Builders & Projects Circle 2026,” an initiative meant to bridge gaps between design, land, capital, construction expertise, and market demand — fields that often operate in isolation from one another. The event will feature an afternoon of industry talks, project discussions, and networking meant to link professional practice with real-world industry conditions. It is backed by sponsors including Buildrite Construction Chemicals, Davies Paints, Jotun, and Fulgar Architects. According to Manila Bulletin, the gathering aims to foster stronger collaboration across the building sector.
